Greetings from the Organising team of ISSHCON 2026, Kolkata!

It gives us immense pleasure to announce that the annual national conference of the Indian Society for Surgery of the Hand is being held in Kolkata, after a gap of fifty-three years. The first meeting of the Indian Society for Surgery of the Hand took place in 1974 with Prof. Ashok Sengupta as the first President of the society.

The fact that this prestigious event is coming to the City of Joy after more than half a century is an indication of the immense interest in this conference and delegates turning up in large numbers.

Hand Surgery is a rapidly evolving specialty, gaining increasing relevance and popularity all over the country, and even more so in Eastern India. We expect a massive turnout of the country’s most eminent hand surgeons, orthopaedic surgeons, and plastic surgeons to attend this conference and share their wealth of knowledge and experience.

We also expect a significant turnout of young surgeons to attend and pick up the baton from their seniors. This conference will also be graced by distinguished international faculty from around the world.
